Sanity with Webflow

This is not a migration away from Sanity. It is a sync. Sanity keeps the content model and editing workflow. Webflow receives the content it needs to render the site.

Sanity integrations like this usually take 1–2 weeks

How it works

How the handoff works.

  1. 01

    Document

    Published in Sanity

  2. 02

    Webhook

The change leaves the Content Lake

  3. 03

    Map

    Portable Text and references resolved

    Key handoff

  4. 04

    Webflow

    The collection item written

  5. 05

    Verify

The rendered page against the document

Why this is the key handoff

Two systems, one of them in charge. Sanity keeps the model and the editing workflow; Webflow renders. The sync is one way for the same reason every one-way sync is: two systems that can both write to a document eventually disagree, and nothing tells you which one is right.

Before you wire it

Three things that commonly go wrong.

  1. 01

Two CMSs means deciding which one is the source of truth

Per content type, and written down. Where the same fields can be edited in both systems there is a real risk of conflicting changes, so we agree which system owns each one.

  2. 02

A successful sync can still leave content staged

The content can reach Webflow and sit there unpublished, whether the sync runs on a publish event or on a schedule. I define when a change becomes live and make that status visible, so nobody has to guess whether the save worked.

  3. 03

The sync is a program somebody owns

It runs somewhere, holds credentials and has a failure mode, so it needs an owner, monitoring and a maintenance plan. That is a commitment rather than an install.

What you are buying

What is included.

  • Sanity documents into Webflow collections on publish or schedule

  • Portable Text converted into Webflow-compatible rich text or HTML

  • References synced in the right order

  • Assets copied or re-hosted where needed

  • Deletes, unpublishes and draft states handled cleanly
